Batman V Superman has been pissing me off for months and the “Ultimate Edition” only makes it worse!

I’ve been annoyed by “Lex” Luthor’s so called plan for months now and the ultimate edition of Batman V Superman does nothing to help with that… except for perhaps confirming (or at least strongly suggesting) that Lex is a mere minion for some intergalactic prick.

But what is this guy’s plan?

If he is working for Darkseid or some such being, it would seem that his ultimate goal would be to kill Superman thus “ringing the bell” and allowing this creature to come to earth un-rivaled. But if that were the plan, why not give Darkseid the krytonite? Or heck, kill Superman himself with the Krytonite via kidnapping Lois/Martha rather than trying to trick Batman (aka the greatest detective in the world) into stealing the kryptonite?

It would seem that Lex is obsessed with the notion of making Superman look evil by whatever means possible for no known reason, including pitting him against Batman… this would make more sense if people actually liked Batman. But even if they did, the reasons for doing this are extremely unclear. Why does he want the world to hate and/or fear Superman if he is just planning to kill him? What difference does it make? Would it make people more forgiving of Lex killing Superman?

Let’s put this into context…

You are a man with means who hates a super being, and have been tasked by a monster with killing this super being. Fortunately your people have found a rock that seems to kill his kind. So what do you do?

The obvious solution is to use ancient alien technology to make a Frankenstein monster with the hopes it will pulverize him to death thus making everyone on Earth applaud you.

See, even at the most elementary level this is confusing and nonsensical.

The filmmakers had a wonderful opportunity to address this with the fans on the DVD, and even had a documentary about Lex Luthor – but instead of explaining anything they just said essentially “Lex has evolved over the years so it was good of us to make him different.” Thanks guys.

Something tells me that the filmmakers knew this whole thing makes no sense and decided to make him a babbling twit hoping that would repel questions. Or maybe they were so desperate to not be predictable that they put in a whole bunch of nonsense that resulted in pissing everyone off.

I’m not even annoyed at Eisenberg for acting as he did. I’ll bet he had fun. It’s the writers and the director that are to blame.

And that’s only the Lex Luthor part of the piss-offery. It was so stupid to kill of Superman that it would take an entirely new post for that.
